#AcceleratePartnerships Nelt and UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina Sign a Three-Year Partnership Agreement

As part of the global partnership, Nelt Group and UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina have joined forces through a three-year project with the aim of creating preconditions for a successful digital transformation of education adapted to the needs of children and youth.

Yesterday, an event was held in Sarajevo officially marking the beginning of the partnership, at which, along with the present representatives of the competent ministry, were also present students and teachers, who will be the focus of the planned activities.

The program is inspired by the joint Declaration of Commitment on Transforming Education, which was supported by the competent Ministers of Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021, which highlights the education digitalization process as one of the priorities.

“In an era where digital skills are becoming crucial for the success of young generations, we believe that this project will contribute to the improvement of educational systems in the markets where it is implemented and have long-term positive effects on our entire society, economy and region. Through an investment of over $300,000, we will provide support and secure resources which will enable children and youth to acquire the necessary digital skills and prepare for the business challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. At Nelt, we believe that it is crucial for young people to be digitally literate to be successful in a dynamic business world that relies on technology, but also to use digital skills to improve their competitiveness, competence and employability, and integrate into the labor market as efficiently as possible”, pointed out Suzana Sikimic, Executive Director of Nelt Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Advances in technology have created a unique opportunity to overcome existing inequalities in access and quality of education. Every child in Bosnia and Herzegovina gets the opportunity to develop his/her talent and affinity, in order to become a responsible, digitally aware and skilled citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will contribute to the socio-economic development of our country.

Marc Lucet, UNICEF representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with the Nelt Group sees an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of a multisectoral approach: “Digital transformation in education requires a high degree of agility, multiple perspectives and resources that can only be achieved with a multisectoral approach.” Nelt Group’s determination to contribute with its expertise and resources to the process, which  also defines the future of this country, is an example of mature, strategic and community-oriented action.”

Adnan Husic, Assistant to the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizes the complementarity of the planned activities  with the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, competent educational authorities and other institutions to improve the quality of education and ensure equal access to educational resources, preparing young people for the labor market in the digital age.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership in the Digital Europe program, participation in the joint initiative of UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Giga – are some of the examples that testify to the favorable momentum for the process of digital transformation of education, which shall contribute to learning for the 21st century”, concluded Husic.

The three-year partnership between Nelt Group and UNICEF will be focused on strengthening education systems in Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Angola. Through planned activities over the next three years, 5,000 primary and secondary school students will acquire skills for the 21st century. At the same time, educational authorities and institutions will have the opportunity to improve educational systems in accordance with the priorities of the Digital Education Action Plan of the European Union.
