Chips Way, a company distributed and co-owned by Nelt, has opened a new chip production line in Čačak, with a capacity of 1,500 kg per hour.
With an investment of over €20 million, which also includes new lines for producing flips and popcorn, Chips Way marks the completion of the largest investment cycle in its history after three years.
To commemorate the occasion, a ceremony was held, attended by U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill, Milun Todorović, Mayor of Čačak, as well as business partners and media representatives.
The production and storage facilities at the Čačak factory have been renovated to the highest standards in the food industry. Additionally, significant investments have been made in the warehouse in Novi Bečej, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery for handling, processing, and storing potatoes. These investments were made possible through substantial support from the Government of Serbia, loans from domestic banks, and Chips Way’s own funds.
“The Čačak factory has undergone a major transformation since 2013 and is now one of the most technologically advanced facilities in the world, specializing in the production of salty snacks. We currently employ 200 people, operate three production lines, and adhere to global standards, using cutting-edge technology from renowned equipment manufacturers worldwide. We expect to close 2024 with revenues exceeding €19 million, with 54% of total sales coming from exports to more than 10 international markets. Our goal is to continue investing in people and production, expanding our product range to secure a strong position for Chips Way in the industry,” said Luka Jovanović, Director of Chips Way.
As a result of this investment cycle, record business results are expected next year, with projected revenues of €25 million and approximately 6,000 tons of production, around 50% of which will be destined for export. The company has also completed the acquisition of a production line for salted pellets, valued at €3 million.
“Sustainability is important to our consumers, partners, and especially the community we operate in. That’s why we have installed over 1,000 solar panels on the factory roof, generating up to 1 MWh of electricity. We have also purchased a machine for extracting starch from wastewater, significantly improving the quality of the factory’s discharged water,” said Raško Gavrilović, Production Director at Chips Way.
Founded in 1971 as the first and only salty snack factory in the region at the time, Chips Way is now one of the few independent local producers in the chip and salty snack industry. The company remains competitive with global leaders, not only in Serbia but across the broader Balkan region.
