Nelt’s terminal has received a train from Ljubljana as a result of collaboration with Adria Kombi, the largest independent intermodal operator in Southeast Europe.
This marks a significant step in integrating this route into Nelt’s network of trains arriving from ports such as Piraeus, Bar, and Rijeka. The new route offers clients whose goods come from Western Europe via Ljubljana the opportunity for efficient rail transport, leveraging all the advantages offered by Nelt’s terminal within the Western Balkans.
“Nelt continues to set new standards in intermodal transport. So far, we have been servicing freight trains from Piraeus, Rijeka, and Bar on a weekly basis. With the expansion of our network to Ljubljana and with real indications of further expansion to Thessaloniki and other routes towards ports in Western Europe and Turkey, we expect significant growth in the number of trains coming to our complex.
Intermodal transport is a crucial element in local, national, and international sustainable development as it provides various financial, safety, social, and environmental benefits,” stated Jelena Jovanić, Sales and Service Development Manager of the Intermodal Terminal, adding:
“With Adria Kombi’s ‘Belgrade Express’ service, rail transport can now be included in combined transport from Koper and Ljubljana to Surčin and back. This route integrates Nelt’s terminal into Adria Kombi’s network and serves as a connection to major European industrial hubs.”
Nelt’s Intermodal Terminal in Dobanovci is recognized as a logistics hub and dry port in the Western Balkans region. The E-75 and E-70 highways intersect just 6 km away from the terminal, while Nikola Tesla Airport is only 10 km away. Within Nelt’s logistics center, there is also a customs office with a warehouse, enabling full support and flexibility for various processes and cargo flows. With warehouses of different temperature regimes covering an area of over 65,000 m2 and a delivery fleet of over 250 vehicles, Nelt’s intermodal terminal location acts as a supply chain integrator in the region.
Furthermore, Nelt continues to expand its network of intermodal terminals. The opening of another intermodal container terminal located in Kruševac is planned for the second quarter of this year. This will strengthen the logistics infrastructure of the region and territorially expand Nelt’s portfolio of logistics services. Positioned 10 km from the EU Corridor 10, adjacent to the Dedina railway station and the future Moravian Corridor, this intermodal terminal provides full logistical support to clients from various industries in the region through a full-service dry port.
